Pride Toronto Festival (2017 - 2019)

Role: Venue & production management, logistics & operations, technical production, and artist, vendor, sponsor and client management; stage and site management (2019)

Pride Toronto’s annual festival is the second largest Pride celebration in North America., with an annual attendance of 1.6 million and over 250K attendance at the main stage, the festival weekend celebration is one of the major cultural events in the City of Toronto.

Highlights

  • Mainstage performances include local musicians and artists such as drag queen extraordinaire Tynomi Banks, Hooded Fang, Lido Pimienta and TiKa.

  • International artists include Joe Jonas’ DNCE, Sisters with Voices, and RuPaul

  • 2017 Guinness Book of World Record-breaking performance featuring over 75 drag queens in a choreographed performance.

  • Logistics and operations-focused:

  • Government permits (fire certificate, pyrotechnics, building, SOPs, road closures)

  • Engineering for complex stage builds

  • Production schedule creation and management for high-profile stakeholder needs (artist management & negotiation, liaising with the Prime Minister’s office for security needs, vendor and site safety management)

  • Created and implemented the main stage emergency action plan and protocols

  • Coordination for final programming schedule, including run of shows, site maps, all vendor staffing schedules

  • Financial management for budgets between $130K to $250K

  • Increased client engagement by 100% and substantially improved working relationships between a high-impact stakeholder.
