Ayu: Mural Project for the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Toronto

Role: Curation, project management, partnership development, fundraising, budget management, logistics oversight

Ayu is the title of a mural project for the hoarding outside of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Toronto. The brainchild of GTA-based street artist Planta Musica (a.k.a. Daniela Rocha), the project was conceived in partnership with Uma Nota Arts and Culture for artist selection and project coordination. Based on iconography from indigenous Latin American cultures, the mural project celebrates the vital role the role of the coca plant has in many indigenous communities throughout Central and South America.

The project was created in collaboration with Hines, as part of their T3 Sterling Road development. Fundraising, onsite production, curation, project planning and stakeholder management were crucial to ensuring buy-in from all parties.
