Fantasía: A Flamenco Tablao (2020)
Role: Curation, creative production, creative direction, logistics, budget management, fundraising
In response to COVID-19 restrictions, the annual Duende Festival Tablao performance (Aga Khan Museum), featuring Toronto-based artists, turned virtual. Treating provincial restrictions as an opportunity to grow creatively, the project took place in various locations throughout the museum, taking advantage of access to these spaces that would otherwise not be available.
Featuring artists Nicolas Hernadez, Derek Gray, Lia Grainger, Tamar Ilana and music director and performer Shirlita La Pili, the in-house museum team created a “fantasy” tablao, inspired by Flamenco film legend Carlos Saura.
