Sanctuary Series: SlowPitchSound & Lybido
Role: Curation, production, budget management, fundraising
A commission from Cheldon Paterson (SlowPItchSound) to create and develop a site-specific performance for the Sanctuary exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum. Inspired by the themes in the Sanctuary exhibition, the artists — SlowPitchSound and Lybido — were also responsible for post-production and editing, offering these emerging and mid-career Toronto artists an additional professional development opportunity.
“I am a first generation Canadian. My parents immigrated to Canada from Grenada looking for more opportunities. It wasn’t easy to transition but eventually we were able to plant our roots with kindness and support from our new communities. Sanctuary for me is not just a place. It’s everything around you, the people, the friends, family and all that lifts you up to be your greatest self.” - SlowPitchSound
“Through sound and movements we share our interpretation of a journey toward a new safe space to thrive.” - SlowPitchSound
