Luminato Festival Toronto’s Guided by Starlight
Role: Producer (creative planning, budget management, artist and venue negotiations, project planning and management)
As part of Luminato Festival Toronto’s 2021 festival program, a five-episode series highlighting the diversity of Toronto’s musical ecosystem was presented as part of the virtual festival in Fall 2021. Featuring artists such as the Toronto Kiki Ballroom Alliance, SATE, Zaki Ibarhim, Kristi Lane Sinclair, OKAN, TiKA and Bruno Capinan, Guided By Starlight also featured artist interviews and short films showcasing Toronto neighborhoods and music venues — some present, some now gone.
My work on this project included securing videographers, managing the production team (DoP, lighting designer, audio engineer etc.), as well as managing all venue and artist negotiations. Filmed over the course of a week and a half at Longboat Hall, the program included site-specific lighting design and projection mapping, and highlighted the contributions of various equity-seeking communities and artists in Toronto. Artistic programming was by Rosina Kazi, and, due to the shift in timing for the festival, producers Diane Marie Bridge and Pip Bradford came on late in the project to wrap up production and on-site execution.
